What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let the site remember your actions and preferences, and help us understand how the site is used. Some are essential for the site to work; others are optional and only set with your consent.
The cookies we use
We group cookies into three categories:
- Strictly necessary (always on): needed for the site to function and to remember your cookie choice. These do not require consent and cannot be switched off.
- Analytics (consent only): Google Analytics (GA4) helps us understand which pages are useful so we can improve the site. These are set only after you accept them, and never before.
- Campaign measurement (consent only): if you reach this site by clicking a link in an email we sent you, we store a first-party token named jamie_visitor for up to 90 days. It lets us see that an enquiry came from that email. It is set only after you accept, and never before.
The campaign token is meaningless on your device — it holds no name, address or readable text — but it does let us match your enquiry back to the email we sent you, so we treat it as personal data. It is only ever sent to Jamie HR's own systems, never to an advertiser or data broker, and it is deleted from your device if you change your cookie choice to essential only. In practice browsers keep it for less time than 90 days: Safari in particular usually clears it within a week.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell any data collected through cookies. The one cookie we use for marketing purposes measures the effectiveness of our own emails and is never shared with anyone else.
Your choices
When you first visit, we ask whether to enable optional cookies — analytics and campaign measurement together. Nothing optional is set unless you accept. You can change your decision at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser; choosing essential only deletes the campaign token from your device. Withdrawing consent stops any further measurement, but it cannot undo records already created — email privacy@jamiehr.com and we will delete those too.
Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
